• How do I become a screenwriter?

    Posted by Jeffery on at

If I want to pursue screenwriting as a career, what do I need to do? What are the steps that I should follow? Do I have to start by coming up with my own script and idea and try to sell it to agents and producers? If so, where do I find these agents and producers?

You might say you are when you sell your first script or when you are making a living at it but it’s about your commitment to the processes and doing the work. Write and submit your scripts to the right people. I don’t want to sound trite but in a way you are a screenwriter when you decide you are in a sense. Write everyday. Don’t miss a day. Read scripts. Read about screenwriting from people who really know it. I suggest Syd Field’s books. Almost anything you read by him is good but start with “Screenplay”
