…doesn’t necessarily mean they’re slow-paced and you’ll be bored. What are some of your favorite movies that are over two hours in runtime? Kevin Costner made an engaging Western with Open Range and I recently rewatched Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Ben-Hur, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Deer Hunter, Goodfellas, just to name a few.

You’ve listed some classics, and arguably, some of the greatest movies ever made. I checked out a couple of Best Movies Ever Made lists. Nearly all of them are over 120 minutes long.

I enjoyed that one. It’s extraordinary what he accomplished and people endured during the Great Depression.

I liked watching the recent “Killers of the Flower Moon” by Martin Scorsese which is 3 hours 26 minutes long. But not a single moment is boring. It’s a well structured film. Though I would have preferred if the culprit’s identity would have been kept a secret till the mid part of the story . But Scorsese revealed them from the beginning and focussed on the impact like Hitchcock. I think it worked because it has a rich engagement of all the creative aspects of cinema( lighting, photography, backstory, indigenous history) and at the same time the film had new characters entering one after another esply Jesse Plemons entry which helped not to lose interest. Leonardo, Robert de Niro, Lily Gladstone have given amazing performances as well.

Were you able to see it uninterrupted or did the theatre add an intermission? My preference is without the break. It seems jarring otherwise.

I saw it on my laptop. But I didn’t see the whole movie in one day. However, it can be seen if you have no other engagements. I agree the intermission does break the flow.

When I was young you had to watch the whole movie at the theater or on the TV without a pause button. Now it’s convenient to watch a long movie. You can hit pause at the right scene and go make snacks and come back and start the movie again. 😃
