Community Spotlight with Lee Citron

Filmmaker. California, United States.

#FlashbackFriday #FBF  Do you remember our Community Spotlight with Lee Citron? Lee’s production still got the Cover of the October 2008 Issue of StudentFilmmakers Magazine.

Lee Citron is a filmmaker living in Los Angeles, and currently a senior at the Loyola Marymount University, School of Film and Television. “Filmmaking is my life.”

Projects:
“My last project was a short film called Idiot Box. It’s a surreal story that takes place in a world infected with television. We just premiered it at the Palm Springs Shorts Fest, which was absolutely lovely.”

Current Work:
“Development for my senior thesis. We’re considering screenplays, throwing around ideas, trying to find the perfect project.”

Indie Filmmaking Tip:
“Work hard on your film; don’t settle for things that could be achieved with a little ingenuity. Also, treat your crew well, and they will treat you well.

“Filmmaking is not always about talent. The best student films are those which have had the most work put into them. If you are doing a film, you must live and breathe that film. The more effort to put into planning your shoot, production design, rehearsals, etc., the better your film will turn out. This holds true even it means failing your other classes and/ or loosing friends and family.”

On Digital Video:
“As filmmakers we now have two different formats to choose from and they both look great. The key is to choose the right one for the movie you are making. Digital is not right for all films, and sometimes film isn’t either. Make this decision based on story and budget.”
