Sound Devices is hosting local students to its Reedsburg headquarters as part of a new summer internship program.
Sound Devices, specialists in production sound and video products for field
production, is hosting local students to its Reedsburg headquarters as part
of a new summer internship program. From June 17 – August 30, four students
selected by the company from Reedsburg Area High School will gain valuable hands-on
engineering and/or computer programming experience.
Developed by Sound Devices’ Vice President of Finance Lisa Wiedenfeld,
the summer-long paid internship will take place at Sound Devices’ 27,000-square-foot
facility at 7556 State Highway 23/33 in Reedsburg, where the company manufactures
audio mixers and recorders, and video recorders for feature film, episodic television,
documentary, news, and acoustical test-and-measurement applications.
“Wisconsin has a rich history of inventors, entrepreneurs and manufacturers.
This program is our way to help carry on this tradition and foster a future
of strong technical-minded people,” says Wiedenfeld, who worked alongside
Jeff Hoeft of Sound Devices and Larry Judge at Reedsburg Area High School to
start the program.
Following an application process, the company identified high-achieving students
who are considering a career in engineering to receive hands-on training in
the field. As part of the internship, the students will rotate through various
roles within the company over the course of the next 11 weeks, including marketing,
service repair and production. They will also gain exposure to Sound Devices
products, company, industry and staff.
“We are excited to welcome these students to the Sound Devices family
this summer,” says Matt Anderson, President of Sound Devices. “It’s
a mutually beneficial opportunity, providing them with comprehensive grounding
in their future careers while allowing us to cultivate the next generation of
professionals working in our specialized industry. We look forward to helping
them develop their interests, skills and knowledge of sound and video production.”
