(Santa Monica, CA) Producers have announced an impressive environmentally-charged
film line-up for October’s The New World F.E.S.T., a large-scale, outdoor
eco-festival and exposition held just steps from the sand in Santa Monica, CA
from October 7 through October 9. Films screenings will take place in a specially
created Eco-Theater, and will include such powerful works as Oscar®-winner
“The Cove” and Sundance winner “Fuel” plus “Dirt!
The Movie,” “Vanishing of the Bees,” “Save the Farm”
and the newly released “Freedom.”
“We’re thrilled to be able to screen such an incredible array of
high-quality and important films,” says event producer Kacy Palmieri of
Live Green Enterprises. “Our hope is that these films will both offer
insight to important issues, as well as inspire those in attendance to get more
involved.”
As the Oscar®-winner for Best Feature Documentary, “The Cove”
embarks on an undercover mission to a hidden cove in Taiji, Japan to expose
brutal environmental crimes. “Vanishing of the Bees,” narrated by
Ellen Page, explores the mystery behind the disappearance of honey bees and
its devastating consequences on our ecosystem. “Dirt! The Movie,”
narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, digs into the economic, social, environmental
and political impact of soil and how modern industrial pursuits have disregarded
this important link to life. And from the filmmakers of “Fuel” comes
the just released “Freedom” which explores the role that Ethanol
plays as a homegrown alternative fuel and features an eclectic array of personalities
from internationally acclaimed author Deepak Chopra to singer/songwriter Jason
Mraz – who also scored the film.
