Renowned writer and director of "Clerks" and "Chasing Amy" to give Q&A for Macworld attendees.
Kevin Smith, acclaimed author, actor, producer and writer/director of award-winning
films including Clerks, Chasing Amy and Dogma, will host a Q&A presentation
session at Macworld 2010, IDG World Expo, owner of Macworld 2010, announced today.
Smith joins an already stellar line up of feature presenters, including David
Pogue, author and personal technology columnist for The New York Times, and Leo
Laporte, host of “MacBreak Weekly,” “The Tech Guy” and
the TWiT netcast network.
Kevin Smith comes to Macworld to share his perspectives on storytelling, the
film industry, the use of technology to create great art and what it takes to
survive in the world of independent filmmaking. Much of Smith’s work is
created using the latest Mac hardware and software, giving him unique insight
into how the Apple products platform can spur and support creativity. The conversation,
sure to be lively, wry and irreverent, will give Macworld attendees a special
opportunity to engage with Smith as he answers audience questions—nothing
is off limits! Smith’s session is scheduled for Thursday, February 11,
2010 at 2:00 pm PT.
"Can't wait to talk to this crowd again, as we share a common passion,”
said Kevin Smith. “I identify straight, but I'm gay for Mac. However,
let's be honest: I'm coming back to Macworld for all that free stuff."
In addition to Smith’s session, Macworld 2010 will feature conference
programming dedicated to those interested in learning about and creating movies
on the Mac. Some highlights include: intimate, hands-on instruction for specific
applications and tools as part of the MacLabs program; Creative Safari, a full
day, hands-on workshop all about “Video Revolution from the Palm of Your
Hand”; a broad range of presentations in the Users Conference designed
to sharpen skills and provide instruction on how to work most effectively on
the Mac; and full-day Market Symposium sessions targeted to the specific vertical
of videography.
“We are pleased to welcome Kevin Smith, one of the greatest and most
entertaining storytellers we have, and an avid user of the Apple products platform,
to Macworld,” said Paul Kent, Macworld general manager and vice president
at IDG World Expo. “Kevin’s dynamic and informative style, commitment
to his community of fans and creative use of Mac technology exemplify what Macworld
is all about. With the addition of Kevin to our already extraordinary line up
of speakers and a host of conference programming dedicated to those interested
in film and movies, Macworld 2010 will once again be the best place on earth
for the creative community to gather, learn, see and try all things Mac.”
Macworld 2010, the world’s premier event singularly focused on the Apple
products platform, is scheduled to take place February 9 - 13, 2010, at the
Moscone Center in San Francisco. Additional feature presentations, speakers
and conference content will continue to be announced over the coming weeks.
