Eurocinema Launches Award-Winning European Films on Comcast On Demand

(Los Angeles) Eurocinema announced the launch of Eurocinema On Demand, a video-on-demand
destination that will bring international award-winning films to Comcast customers.
Currently available to Comcast customers in Philadelphia and Washington, DC,
this offering will continue to roll out to additional Comcast markets throughout
the next year.
"Launching on Comcast marks a major milestone in Eurocinema's evolution,"
said company co-founder and Chairman/CEO, Sebastien Perioche. "This offering
will bring film enthusiasts easy access to a diverse selection of unique European
and international box office movies."
Eurocinema will offer up to 15 award-winning titles from Western and Eastern
Europe with four to five new titles each month on Comcast On Demand and each
feature film will be accompanied by a short film. The offering includes a combination
of movies, with works by legendary directors and the best of world film titles
-- most never before seen in the U.S. and Canada. Eurocinema also brings viewers
a carefully programmed selection of quality international theatrical films and
award winning short films and titles including contemporary films and classics,
award winners direct from the festival circuit and works of acclaimed directors
and globally-recognized actors.
"Eurocinema On Demand brings viewers some of the best independent cinema
from around the world," said Diana Kerekes, Vice President of Entertainment
Services for Comcast. "We are excited to provide our customers even more
of the films they want to watch, but can't catch at their local movie theaters."
Beginning this month, viewers may experience the world of foreign film from
the comfort of their homes by accessing Eurocinema on Comcast On Demand, under
the Movies and Indies/Foreign categories, on the user-friendly, easy to navigate
service.
Eurocinema On Demand will feature a selection of foreign film treasures from
Italy, Spain and Russia, including:
SECRET JOURNEY (VIAGGIO SEGRETO) -- From Italy with English
subtitles, this psychological thriller stars Alessio Boni, Valeria Solarino,
Claudia Gerini and award-winning director/actor Emir Kusturica. With short film
DANYA.
THE SANDMAN (EL HOMBRE DE ARENA) -- From Spain with English
subtitles, the film stars Spanish heartthrob Hugo Silva and Goya Award winning
actress Maria Valverde (THE ANARCHIST'S WIFE). Set in the 1960's, young Mateo
is imprisoned in a provincial psychiatric institution that is more a prison
than a hospital. A love develops between Mateo and another inmate named Lola,
who was institutionalized after years of sexual abuse. With short film LUCKY.
THE LARK FARM (LA MASSERIA DELLE ALLODOLE) -- From Italy with
English subtitles, THE LARK FARM is the first high profile film to deal with
the Armenian genocide and features a truly all-star, international cast led
by Paz Vega (SPANGLISH, SEX AND LUCIA), Moritz Bleibtreu (RUN LOLA RUN, MUNICH),
and Tcheky Karyo (THE PATRIOT, GOLDENEYE). Directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani.
With short film CHAMP D'HONNEUR.
FAT, STUPID RABBIT (TOLSTYI GLUPYI KROLIK) -- From Russia
with English subtitles. Described by many reviewers a "little known Russian
gem," the film is about a group of actors working in a children's theatre
in a small Russian town. Arcady played by Aleksey Maklakov (DAY WATCH, NIGHT
WATCH), is an actor who has a history, having worked in the theatre for many
years, who now feels that the role of the rabbit could be his last. This is
a comedy of vodka, women and depression. With short film GRANDE MIGRATION.
LOVE ME (QUIEREME) -- From Spain with English subtitles. Pancho,
played by Dario Grandinetti (TALK TO HER) is a very successful chef, one day
he opens the door to find a seven year old girl claiming to be his granddaughter
from Spain - the daughter of the daughter he abandoned years earlier in Europe.
The film co-stars Ariadna Gil (PAN'S LABYRINTH), Kira Miro (BROKEN EMBRACES)
and Christina Valdivieso as Amparo. With short film FINGERPRINTS.
Offered on-demand on cable and IP TV, including such major distributors such
as Time Warner, Charter, Cablevision, RCN, Verizon, DISH and DIRECTV, Eurocinema
is now available in over 31 million homes across North America, with this launch.
