A Rare and Timely Look Inside the Controversial Work of the Chief Prosecutor
of the International Criminal Court, Dr. Luis Moreno-Ocampo
(Nashville, TN) This October, Documentary Channel (DOC) proudly presents the
US television premiere of award-winning filmmaker Barry Stevens' remarkable
documentary film Prosecutor on Sunday, October 9 (8 p.m. ET/PT). Concurrent
with the October 9 television premiere, the film will also be made available
online for 14 days at http://documentarychannel.com/prosecutor. A fascinating
story with extremely rare inside access into the controversial work of newsmaker
Dr. Luis Moreno-Ocampo, Prosecutor follows the Chief Prosecutor through the
first trials of the newly formed International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Currently making headlines for his work to capture and indict Libya's Muammar
el-Qaddafi and his son Seif al-Islam, as well as his initial investigation into
Syria's Bashar al-Assad, Dr. Moreno-Ocampo investigates and prosecutes some
of the world's worst criminals for some of the world's worst crimes. A hero
to genocide survivors, the Chief Prosecutor also has bitter enemies on both
the Left and the Right. Prosecutor offers a front-row seat to the historic events
that may very well determine whether the International Criminal Court is a groundbreaking
new weapon for global justice or just an idealistic dream.
An official selection of the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival
Amsterdam (2010), Prosecutor will be the premiere film at the upcoming PaleyDocFest
at The Paley Center in New York City on September 26. Dr. Moreno-Ocampo will
be on hand for the screening and will participate, along with filmmaker Barry
Stevens, in a special Q&A to be moderated by NBC's Ann Curry. This Q&A
will also be streamed live on Documentary Channel's website, and viewers will
be able to submit questions live via Twitter.
"We are honored to premiere this extraordinary film by Barry Stevens on
Documentary Channel," says James Ackerman, Documentary Channel president
and CEO. "The work of Dr. Moreno-Ocampo and the ICC continues to capture
the world's attention and we are thrilled to partner with The Paley Center in
featuring it as the opening selection at PaleyDocFest."
Documentary Channel is primarily available through satellite television services
DISH Network (Channel 197) and DIRECTV (Channel 267).
Documentary Channel (DOC) is the USA's first 24-hour television network exclusively
devoted to documentary films and the independent documentary filmmaker, providing
viewers with round-the-clock opportunities to see fascinating, eclectic and
award-winning documentary films of all lengths and genres.
