Filmmaker Aaron Nix made the trek from small town Nebraska to the marshlands of the Florida Gulf Coast to write and direct WMD, an award winning short about the Gulf War. It plays through July 26 at http://www.RedMovieHouse.com.

(Tallahassee, FL) - A native of McCook, Nebraska, Nix completed WMD while in film school at Florida State University, one of the top film schools in the nation.

It wasnt easy. The crew braved swarms of mosquitoes and pitched in each day to push their production trucks out of the swamp mud.

I had Marines on set at all times. They were constantly mentoring the actors says Nix.

The crew had a scare when they were pulled over by the police with a trunk full of AK-47s (used as props). (Fortunately the police did not ask to open the trunk.)

Working on a limited budget, Nix auditioned his cast based in New York and Los Angeles via Skype (a video chat service). He chose improvisational actors because improv actors are the funniest and he says that everyone on the cast was crazy, but in a good way.

Nix was selected as only one of four award-winners featured at the premiere of http://www.RedMovieHouse.com -- an online social movie theater that launched in July.

RedMovieHouse.com features the work of rising stars - exceptional new talent in the film industry. The site resembles a small-town movie house, where films play for just a week. Movies continue to be free as long as you share and rate them.

WMD received the Silver Remi award from the Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival.
