PBS's NewsHour screened an excerpt of Made in India, a film by New School media studies alum Vaishali Sinha documenting the journey of an infertile American couple, an Indian surrogate, and the reproductive outsourcing business that brought them together. Sinha and Rebecca Haimowitz, who co-directed the film, told PBS they pursued the story because of a passion for the material. "We come from a background of social justice work, with particular interest in reproductive rights, sexuality and human rights," they said. "Made in India highlights the human stories behind a complex process while raising immediate concerns over women's health and rights." Click here for more information. Resources:
