Breaking Glass Pictures and Yellow Rick Road Productions are proud to announce
the Blu-Ray (SRP $29.99) and DVD (SRP $24.99)
release of the award-winning rock documentary An Affair of the Heart, an homage
to Rick Springfield's classic song and an intimate portrait of the singer's
unique relationship with seven devoted fans who put their lives on hold to follow
him on tour. The film will be released nationwide on July 16th.
The Grammy® Award-winning musician, songwriter, actor and best-selling
author was quoted as saying, "It was a real laugh/cry kind of thing. As
a person, I am kind of peripheral. It is about their connection, what they view
and how they interpreted who I was, and the right times that music that they
liked came along to help them to get through difficult stuff." He adds,
"I get the stories. I am very proud to be part of it, but it is more their
power than mine."
For many fans, Rick Springfield is much more than a celebrity crush; some
have overcome deep trauma by connecting with his music, for others he has served
as a catalyst for life-long friendships, and without fail all have a unique
bond with him. A fascinating look at the fans of a pop rock icon, An Affair
of the Heart is a soulful examination of those who turned a man into a legend.
To date, he has sold over 19 million records with a whopping 17 Top 40 hits.
He has performed for millions of devoted fans over the last three decades and
continues to play some 80 shows a year. Attracting new fans wherever he goes
with his unique brand of audience interaction, unstoppable energy, and unforgettable
songs, Rick Springfield is a part of the soundtrack to many lives. In October
2010, his memoir titled "Late, Late at Night" was released, and instantly
became a New York Times Best Seller. In early 2013, he rocked out with Dave
Grohl and the Foo Fighters with a new track and featured role in the critically
acclaimed Sound City documentary and album. He also returned to "General
Hospital" as Dr. Noah Drake and performed as himself for their 50th Anniversary.
Since its premiere at the Florida Film Festival, An Affair of the Heart has
received praise and awards on the international film festival and theatrical
circuits. The Hollywood Reporter hailed the film as "a feel-good and at
times laugh-out-loud documentary", the New York Times called it "a
refuge from the mundane" and Time Out - New York gave it four stars and
called it a "new kind of music doc".
An Affair of the Heart's many awards include: "Outstanding Direction"
from the Florida Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival's Gibson Impact of Music
Award for a "Surprising Look at the Fan Experience", "Best Editing"
from Sidewalk Moving Pictures Festival, and Boston Film Festival's "Best
Music Award".
Director/producer Sylvia Caminer is an Emmy® Award-winning filmmaker, with
extensive credits in film and television. Over the past fifteen years she has
filmed on five continents, directing and producing hit series for Discovery/Travel
Channel, shows for TLC, WE, and Lifetime, and four narrative features. The film
is also produced/executive produced by Melanie Lentz-Janney, a veteran marketing
and communications executive and life-long Springfield fan.
The home video release will include over an hour of extras on the DVD, while
the two-disc Blu-Ray will come complete with over two full hours of bonus content,
including extended scenes, interviews and conversations with fans and celebrity
friends, and footage from screenings.
