This eight week fully immersive program provides you with the knowledge, tools, and experience essential to become a working professional in the film industry or to get to the next level in your career. Guided by seasoned industry professionals and working with top-tier industry gear, spend each week focusing on a particular aspect of cinematography. Make valuable professional connections and accumulate content each week for your professional portfolio or demo reel.
SEP 20–24 | ON-CAMPUS | Igor Martinovic
Get a comprehensive introduction to the art and craft of cinematography with award-winning cinematographer Igor Martinoviç, whose work spans feature films, episodic television, documentary features, and commercials. A two-time Emmy nominee and ASC award-winner, Igor’s credits include HOUSE OF CARDS, HBO’s THE NIGHT OF, Errol Morris’s Netflix mini-series WORMWOOD, and the Oscar-winning documentary feature MAN ON WIRE.
OCT 25–29 | ON-CAMPUS | Jennifer Reeves
For one week, engage in the creative filmmaking process and focus on the expressive properties of the film form as you develop your unique voice and technical capabilities. As we immerse ourselves in thriving forms of experimental filmmaking, participants will be encouraged to challenge and trust themselves in the process of learning through making something unfamiliar.  

Whether artist, documentarian, narrative or experimental filmmaker, this workshop will give you the opportunity to expand your proficiency in filmmaking and film language. You will bring home a rough-cut or footage, new technical know-how and insights to enrich a project in progress, or to develop something completely new.  
SEP 27–OCT 1 | ON-CAMPUS | Patrick Cady ASC, DGA
Explore the process of directing and filming actors and learn how to arrive at the most effective choices for shooting story and character. Led by Patrick Cady ASC, DGA, an Emmy-nominated cinematographer who has also become a busy director. Patrick launched as a camera intern for the legendary Roger Deakins and, after a long career as a cinematographer, is now an in-demand director and cinematographer on shows like Amazon’s hit series BOSCH, HBO’s INSECURE, and Sundance Channel’s RECTIFY.

Spend a week with acclaimed and award-winning filmmaker Jessica Beshir whose latest film “Faya Dayi” premiered at Sundance earlier this year, where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.

This one week master class is for filmmakers and students who want to sharpen their work with the mentoring of a master documentary filmmaker. You will consider conceptualization, development, research, how to focus the story and structure, scripted and non-scripted storytelling, ethics, interviewing as relationship, how to balance multiple stories, and much more.
