October 28, 2024 — The National Film and Television School (NFTS), internationally recognized for cultivating some of the most impactful voices in cinema, is excited to announce an exclusive live webinar: Where Are They Now? Award-Winning NFTS Graduates Talk About How to Succeed in Filmmaking. The webinar, scheduled for October 30 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, will gather recent NFTS graduates who have already made waves in the film industry, sharing practical advice on how to leverage film school achievements into long-term career success.

Panel Overview

Moderated by Lizzie Francke, renowned film executive and head of the NFTS’s Directing Fiction MA program, the panel will feature NFTS alumni who were each awarded the prestigious Christie Most Promising Student Award. The discussion will cover professional insights into succeeding across different filmmaking disciplines, highlighting how to navigate career challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

The panelists include:
– Andrew Oldbury: RTS-nominated Development Executive & Producer with credits including Happy Valley and It’s A Sin. Oldbury will offer his perspective on building robust networks in producing and development.
– Lisa Kenney: Acclaimed director and Student Academy Award Winner known for her comedic and authentic storytelling approach. Kenney will discuss finding unique voices in animation and live-action filmmaking.
– Michael Pearce: Accomplished colorist with major credits such as No Time To Die and Ant Man 3. Pearce will explore the technical and creative nuances of post-production and color grading in feature films.

Lizzie Francke, the moderator, brings a wealth of experience, including former roles as artistic director at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and executive producer for the BFI Film Fund. With her background in discovering and supporting cinematic talent, Francke will steer a rich conversation about building a sustainable filmmaking career.
