Kopp Stars with Chinese Superstar Zhu Yawen and Viewership in China is Projected to be More than 100 Million People

(Los Angeles, CA) Dawna Lee Heising of Eye on Entertainment interviewed Los Angeles-based, Austrian actress Ina-Alice Kopp, who recently returned to the United States after filming the 30-hour biopic “Departed Heroes” in China (Mandarin title: “Yuan Qu de Fei Ying”). The series is produced and distributed by Huayi Brothers Media Corp, China’s leading studio, which recently formed a Joint Venture with Los Angeles’ Legendary Pictures (“Inception”, “The Dark Knight”). Hua Qing, the winner of the 2010 Shanghai Film Festival, directed the dramatic miniseries, which stars Kopp (whose next project is “Nephilim”), Vivian Wu (“The Last Emperor”), Zhu Yawen and Luo Jin (“Biutiful”).

Kopp was selected for the demanding role from over 200 actresses, with the approval of her co-star, Chinese superstar Zhu Yawen. “Departed Heroes” tells the true story of Chinese national hero Gao Zhihang and his legendary wife Ge Lier, a Russian aristocrat. Educated in France and known for her eccentricity, Ge Lier broke with the conventions of 1920s China by marrying a Chinese man. Gao Zhihang and Ge Lier’s tragic love affair became the scandal of their time. Kopp shot several hundred scenes in Chinese and later dubbed a few of them into French and English.

The air war scenes feature sound effects by two-time Oscar winner Mike Hopkins, and the special effects were created by the same postproduction team that worked on “Lord of the Rings,” ”King Kong” and ”Avatar.” Shot all over China, “Departed Heroes” has begun airing in various regions of the country where viewership has broken all previous records. It is estimated that one hundred million people will see the biopic. The exotic love affair between Kopp and Zhu Yawen, and the epic battle scenes have won the hearts of fans throughout China.

Kopp is an accomplished actress with stage, film and TV credits from Europe and China. She is fluent in six languages, including English, German, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Spanish, and French (and Latin). She started classical ballet training at the age of five, and continues to take classes in contemporary dance and modern ballet. She has been studying classical piano since she was 10 years old, and has a wide repertoire of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Schubert. Kopp has worked as a model in Austria, Eastern Europe, China, Japan and the United States since the age of 18. She earned a BA in Mandarin Chinese from Fudan University in Shanghai, and is currently pursuing her MSc in International Management (China). Her superb acting and language skills are in great demand and she will soon be featured in Timothy Tau’s web series “Quantum Cops,” among many upcoming projects. She has been considered for most of the top movies in the last few years, including: Avatar - the last Airbender, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Clash of the Titans, Adjustment Bureau, Love and other Drugs, The Mechanic, Resident Evil, Batman, CSI, NCIS, Nikita, Hawaii 5.0 and numerous others.
