''Kid Filmmakers is pleased to support the STARBRIGHT Foundation and the impressive work they do to help empower seriously ill children and teens,'' said Eleyne Austen Sharp, Kid Filmmakers founder and executive director.

Co-Founded by filmmaker Steven Spielberg, the STARBRIGHT Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that brings together the worlds of technology, pediatric healthcare and entertainment to create and distribute products that positively impact the ways a seriously ill child or teen copes with their illness.

The Flying Popcorn! International Children's Film Festival is a fun, family event which was established by Kid Filmmakers in 2003 to encourage the creation of quality film and video productions for children (while building and expanding an audience for such works.) A traveling program which is licensed to schools and nonprofit organizations, Flying Popcorn! promotes communication and understanding between adults and young people and gives educators tools for exploring art, social issues, world culture and media in their classrooms.

Donations from Flying Popcorn! will help STARBRIGHT continue to produce and distribute innovative media-based programs free of charge to children facing challenges associated with cancer, diabetes, asthma, kidney disease and other serious and chronic illnesses. STARBRIGHTs programs include STARBRIGHT World (a private interactive computer network connecting seriously ill kids to a community of their peers), Videos with Attitude (insight from peers who have faced similar medical challenges) and a variety of CD-ROMs that educate kids about their illness or condition in kid- friendly terms. The next Flying Popcorn! International Children's Film Festival will be held in Newport, Rhode Island at the Hyatt Regency Newport on Saturday, April 17, 2004. For more information, please contact Eleyne Austen Sharp at (401) 846-9884 or see the Kid Filmmakers website at www.kidfilmmakers.com.
