Get up to $5,000 for your tuition!
The whole point of the KODAK Student Filmmaker Program is to nurture the next generation of filmmakers and support ongoing current education. As part of this effort, we've established the EASTMAN Scholarship Program, which is administered by the University Film & Video Foundation (UFVF).
UFVF is a non-profit organization whose mission is to administer the EASTMAN Scholarship Program and to advance the study, practice, and preservation of motion picture and video production.
The EASTMAN Scholarship Program awards tuition scholarships to university and college students of film, film production, and cinematography at the undergraduate and graduate levels (BA/BS/BFA and MA/MFS/MFA) in the US and Canada.
Each year, the EASTMAN Scholarship Program provides awards of up to $5,000 for tuition/fees or production related expenses for one school year. Colleges and universities may nominate two students for awards every academic year, and portfolio reviews should be part of the selection process.
If you are nominated, you'll need to complete a scholarship application and provide a reference (from a faculty member or administrator) confirming your outstanding potential and cinematographic ability.
Nominations are evaluated on the basis of academic achievement, creative and technical ability, initiative, communications ability, and range of filmmaking experience. A Blue Ribbon jury evaluates all work and makes final selections. The jury consists of an ASC and/or International Cinematographers Guild Director of Photography, an academic of distinction, an independent filmmaker, and an industry or trade association executive. Film originated work and creative skill counts 50%; the other criteria counts 50%.
Be sure to submit your application to the UFVF in the spring to receive money for the following September. Awards are announced at the UFVA Conference in late summer and scholarship funds are paid out in September.
EASTMAN Scholarship Program 2004 Nomination Form. Deadline is May 14, 2004.
