BURBANK, Calif. - The second annual The Method Fest Acting Competition co-hosted by the Joanne Baron / DW Brown Studio kicks off Thursday, March 25 with the preliminary competition from 10 am to 6 pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Castaway Restaurant and Banquet Centre in Burbank, 1250 Harvard Road, tel. (818) 848-6691.

Participating actors must prepare a memorized one minute monologue from a contemporary theatrically released feature film. Actors must be at least 16 years of age. The upper age limit is 35. Actors must never have performed in a SAG theatrically released film. Contestants will be filmed and must sign video releases to participate.

Ten finalists, selected by a celebrity judging panel, will compete in the Method Fest Acting Competition Finals, Sunday, April 4, from 11 am to 1 pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Castaway Restaurant. The winner will be announced at the Method Fest Awards Ceremony, Friday, April 9, at The Castaway. The Method Fest Acting Competition winner will receive a cash prize, consultations with a talent agent, talent manager, casting director, acting coaching by renowned teacher Joanne Baron, a meeting with an established film director, complimentary membership with Powerhouse Gym, and photos by a celebrity photographer.

Tania Verafield was the first winner of the Method fest Acting Competition initiated last year. The 6th annual The Method fest independent film festival, will take place April 2-9 at the AMC Media City Center 8 Theatres in Downtown Burbank. The Method Fest is the only major film festival in the world that acknowledges the actor's contribution to independent films. Named after the famous "Method" school of acting which has influenced many generations of actors, The Method Fest is truly a festival of Discovery, showcasing quality acting of young, new actors and character-driven films by talented new filmmakers.
