Vaddio Combines Echo Cancellation and Automatic Mixing Into TRIO Microphones with SmartMIC Technology

Vaddio announces its revolutionary TRIO audio line with SmartMIC technology. TRIO SmartMIC technology is the industry’s first microphone system to incorporate Digital Signal Processing and echo cancellation directly into the microphone itself. The internal DSP features microphone gating, equalization, AGC and noise cancellation. With SmartMIC technology, internal DSP and echo cancellation can now be integrated into any manufacturer’s audio mixing system.

Each TRIO SmartMIC is equipped with an array of three electret condenser microphones positioned to form a 360-degree pickup pattern. This unique technology is based on the microphone’s ability to actively manage the room’s live audio for gain, gating and echo cancellation. Once detected, the microphone will adjust and mix down to a single output. Because the intelligence is inside the microphone, any mixer can now be used in a live collaboration application for audio conferencing and achieve outstanding results.

“Our TRIO SmartMIC technology was designed to allow our integrators to have a simple and less expensive approach to adding live audio conferencing into their room designs,” explained CEO of Vaddio, Rob Sheeley. “As our industry moves away from designing presentation-only rooms into designing interactive collaborative workspaces, adding clear, echo-free audio has become a major priority. Designing complex and expensive echo cancellation systems for one room just doesn’t work in a world where collaboration is being deployed in EVERY room.”

The TRIO MIC I/O interface device allows the connection of up to four SmartMICs and because each input is effectively running three microphones on three different channels, users can technically run 12 microphones all with independent echo cancellation and internal DSP. For installations requiring more than 12 SmartMICs, just add an additional TRIO MIC I/O for 12 more channels.

With Vaddio’s new SmartMIC technology, there’s no more complex programming. No more time-consuming setups or outrageous equipment costs. Want to hang the microphone from the ceiling? The same SmartMIC technology in the table microphone is available in a ceiling version as well.
