2013 continues to be a banner year for singer/songwriter/actress/producer Tamar Braxton. Last night, she won the prestigious Centric Award at the BET Awards for  "Love And War," the title track of her upcoming September 3rd release.

Named for BET's sister channel, Centric, the award recognizes outstanding neo-soul and traditional R&B performances.   Past Centric Award winners include Common and Anthony Hamilton, while Tamar's fellow nominees for the 2013 Award were Fantasia, Nas, Miguel and Charlie Wilson.

Tamar comments: "Love And War is obviously a song that is close to my heart so it's an honor to receive the Centric Award for my first single, from my BET family."

Tamar's most recent single, "The One," is quickly ascending the Urban charts; it's the #1 Greatest Gainer at Urban Adult Contemporary and top 20 and rising on the Urban Mainstream Charts.  "The One" is following the same trajectory of the single that preceded it, "Love And War," which ultimately topped the Urban Mainstream Chart for 10 consecutive weeks.

Tamar's not just at the top of her game when it comes to music – her career as an actress and a producer is also in high gear.  In addition to starring on WE tv's  "Braxton Family Values," "Tamar and Vincent," the unscripted series starring Tamar and her manager-husband Vincent, was just renewed by WE tv.  The second season will premiere on September 5th.
