(South Lake Tahoe, CA) - Outdoor adrenaline junkies who want to supplement their fix with an element of vicariousness will get their wish at the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival held at the Montbleu Resort Casino and Spa. Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, the event embodies, through various media, the thrill and excitement shared by all who love to live on the edge of the decidedly non-proverbial cliff.

To fire up the audience before screening the films, the festival opens an hour early to allow attendees to mingle and hosts events including an exhibition of stills from dozens of photographers who capture the physics-defying moments of extreme sports, entertainers Little John Flip and go-go dancers from Zenith Dance Artistry. During intermission there is a raffle drawing with prizes that include an Alaskan heli-ski trip as well as passes to ski resorts and sports clothing.

To maintain a high-energy aura, TAFF sifts through hundreds of hours of footage that explore the four corners of the actions sports world and selects the most heart-pounding scenes for the delectation of outdoor adventurers. In contrast to most film festivals that screen feature-length works, TAFF showcases filmmakers' submissions of segments that are ten to twelve minutes in length and chronicle such events as Corey Richards ascending, in winter, an 8,000 meter mountain located in Pakistan and Matt Gerdes BASE jumping with a wing suit that allows him to gain brief moments of elevation. Speaking on Resort Sports Network, festival founder Todd Offenbacher describes the festival as "one night to come out and really get a pulse on what's happening in surfing, skiing, and snowboarding..." Following the conclusion of the festival an after-party will be held in the Blu Nightclub for all guests twenty-one and over. Headlining is the Hatchett brothers' Band "Fortress" which will supply 1980s heavy metal beats. The entry fee is $10 at the door.

The 2011 Tahoe Adventure Film Festival is Saturday, December 10th. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. followed by the films at 7:30 p.m. Advance ticket purchases are encouraged and are $20 or $25 the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased at the MontBleu ticket office, by calling 775.588.3515 or at Ticketmaster.com.
