Chef Tony Geraci Takes On Childhood Obesity As He Leads A National Movement To Change The Way America's Children Eat At School - Premiering October 23 (8 pm ET/PT)

(Nashville, TN) This October, Documentary Channel (DOC) explores the childhood obesity epidemic through a look inside America's school cafeterias with the US television premiere of "Cafeteria Man" on Tuesday, October 23 (8 pm ET/PT). "Cafeteria Man" shares the story of Chef Tony Geraci and his mission to start a movement that will change the way the nation's children eat at school. In an effort to show what is truly possible, Geraci motivates activists and citizens to come together to change what has become the status quo. Geraci leaves no stone unturned as he inspects a dysfunctional nutritional system, revealing the truth of what and whom it takes, to make real solutions happen.

Leading the charge to replace pre-plated, processed foods with locally grown, freshly prepared meals, the charismatic chef from New Orleans shares a bold vision that includes school vegetable gardens, student-designed meals, meatless Mondays, and nutrition education in the classroom. His mission is as audacious as it is practical.

The feature-length documentary film chronicles an ambitious effort to ‘green' the public school diet serving 83,000 students in Baltimore, Maryland. Over the course of two years, the film traces efforts to make healthy, nutritious meals available to all the city's students, including the work of inner city youths as they plant and harvest vegetables at the school system's 33-acre teaching farm.

"Cafeteria Man" is an eye opening, inspiring look at one man's mission to make impactful changes that will last.

Documentary Channel is primarily available through satellite television services DISH Network (Channel 197) and DIRECTV (Channel 267).
