StudentFilmmakers.com thanks each and every one of the filmmakers and video makers, professors and teachers, and students who attended the Low-Budget Feature Filmmaking Seminar with Michael Goi, ASC in New York City. The event was a great success. For those who missed it, we hope you can join us for the next one.

About 70 attendees gathered (June 19) at the French Institute Alliance Francaise, Florence Gould Hall Theatre to learn low budget movie making tips, tricks, and techniques from world-renowned, Emmy-nominated cinematographer, Michael Goi, ASC.

StudentFilmmakers.com Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Mr. Kim Welch opens the event introducing and welcoming lead speaker, Michael Goi, ASC, and special guests: film producer, Mark Gragnani, actress Amber Perkins, and national child advocate and founder of the KlaasKids Foundation, Marc Klaas.

The dramatic feature film, "Megan is Missing," serves as the focal point for the seminar and discussion topics. Directed by Michael Goi, ASC, "Megan is Missing," addresses and raises awareness of child abduction and prevention. Shot low-budget and documentary-style from the POV of the various mobile, computer and web-based cameras, the feature film is a fictional drama based on actual events, about two teenage girls who encounter an internet predator.

The pre-release benefit screening of “Megan is Missing” followed the seminar portion of the event.  After the film screening, lead actress Amber Perkins joins Michael Goi, ASC, Mark Gragnani, and Marc Klaas on stage giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions about being young in the industry and working with experienced professionals, Perkins’ process for delivering such sensitive and dramatic scenes, and the young actress’s portrayal of the 13-year-old character, (as Perkins was casted for the role at age 18).

At the close of the event, attendees gathered to talk about the film, network with one another, and talk one-on-one with host Kim Welch, lead speaker Michael Goi, ASC, film producer Mark Gragnani, actress Amber Perkins, and Marc Klaas.
