The second Trinity Film Festival will be held on May 4, 2013 at Cinestudio on the campus of Trinity College.  There will be three cash prizes totaling $3,000 and a mystery prize awarded by the audience, which will be unveiled at a post-screening red carpet awards ceremony.  Click here for a short video recap of last year’s event:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrQMLPAN0EE

This year’s event will again feature short films, ten minutes in length or less, from undergraduates across the country.  The call for entries is now open. For information on how to submit a film for consideration, visit: http://www.trinityfilmfestival.org/submit.php

A red carpet awards ceremony and buffet-style reception with live music will follow the film screenings. Here, the winners will be announced by a professional film panel, including award-winning director Lauren Wolkstein; and co-founder of Cinestudio Peter McMorris.  The Festival also welcomes back judges Dr. Michael Walsh, founder of the cinema department at the University of Hartford; and Mary Buck, former president of the Casting Society of American (CSA), who was twice nominated for an Emmy.

Last year’s festival screened 23 student shorts from around the country, and welcomed more than 350 people to the iconic Cinestudio theater on Trinity’s campus.  The festival was enhanced by Cinestudio’s new state-of-the-art digital equipment, which gives the theater unmatched flexibility in screening student works in a high quality, high definition format.   To read more about last year’s winners, or to view the winning films, click here:  http://www.trinityfilmfestival.org/last-year.php

Cinestudio is regarded as one of the premier independent movie theaters in the country, complete with an Austrian gold screen curtain and balcony seating.  The venue, which shows well over a hundred movies each year, from independent foreign films to Hollywood blockbusters, is host to other significant annual film festivals as well, including the Connecticut Gay and Lesbian Film Festival held each May-June, and the April in Paris (French language) Film Festival.
