Product Of My Environment, the short film, has been accepted into the New York City International Film Festival, the third largest film festival in New York. This notification took the cast and crew by surprise.

Little did they know that Manager Craig Xcel had his eyes on this film festival. Then this little film and the festival surprised everyone again by receiving two nominations, one for Best Narrative Short Film and one for Best Drama In A Short Film. What will this short film do next?

Product Of My Environment is a 44.51 minute short film adapted from the book Product Of My Environment From Me To You by Author Reiko Brown. The story is a true and very painful journey of the life of Brown, growing up in New York City during its violent past in the 70's and 80's. Drugs, gangs, crime and much more was a part of her daily battle. The performances from the cast, like lead actress Monique Robinson ("Rachel"), are one of a kind. The pain from the book comes through in every scene with Ms. Robinson. Supporting actress Rosalind Russell's portrayal of Rachel's mother was so powerful many have already nicknamed her Angela Bassett in reference to the great Hollywood actress. The two leading male actors Kojo Boama, Rachel's love interest "Kendu", and RayMartell Moore, Rachel's love interest "Eric" had the young female viewers swooning.

The cast, crew, family, friends and followers of P.O.M.E. are wondering what's next in line for the "little story that could." Are there anymore surprises coming?

There is one showing scheduled for Product Of My Environment (P.O.M.E.) at the New York City International Film Festival on June 14, 2013 at 3:30 pm at the MIST Theatre in Harlem New York.
