Panasonic announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the Panasonic HDC-Z10000 camcorder.  Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products across 32 product categories.

HDC-Z10000 Camcorder

The HDC-Z10000 is Panasonic's first* integrated twin-lens 2D/3D camcorder that is fully compatible with the AVCHD 3D/Progressive standard. The HDC-Z10000 builds on Panasonic's 3D innovations, having the closest 3D video macro setting with a twin-lens 3D camcorder at approximately 17.8 inches.  With this industry-best macro setting, the Panasonic HDC-Z10000 helps capture 3D video that is typically difficult to shoot, such as of flowers, animals and jewelry.

New to Panasonic's 3D-capable camcorders, the HDC-Z10000 features a 1,152,000-dot, 3.5-inch LCD that appears 3D to the naked eye – no 3D eyewear needed.  By using a parallax barrier to control the direction of the light from the LCD, images with slightly different perceptions are viewed by the right and left eyes, thus creating a 3D effect.  The user can check 3D images while shooting, without having to connect a monitor. Naturally, the display can also be switched between 2D and 3D.

Furthering its technical excellence, the HDC-Z10000 features Panasonic's unique Double 3MOS System, which produces superb color and detail reproduction.  Featuring two high-sensitivity 3MOS sensors (with an effective pixel count of 6.57 megapixels each) that are independently mounted left and right, the Double 3MOS system creates outstanding full HD 3D video content.  This full HD 3D video content can be viewed on any Panasonic VIERA 3D TV as well.

"Panasonic is proud and honored to be recognized as a CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award Honoree for the HDC-Z10000.  As a leader in the full HD 3D category, we recognize how important content creation is for the growth of 3D technology," said Joseph Facchini, Vice President of Sales and Product Management, Panasonic Solutions Company. "Panasonic believes that the HDC-Z10000 is a product that customers have been looking for – a true high-quality 3D camcorder with great depth of field and the ability to capture important moments in 3D and share with family and friends."

The prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow; the CEA has been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. The Best of Innovations honor is awarded to the products with the highest judges' scores; Honorees' products will be featured in the Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase at the 2012 International CES.

Panasonic's HDC-Z10000 will be displayed at the 2012 International CES, which runs January 10-13, 2012 in Las Vegas, NV. Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: the Official Press Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 8 in the Venetian Ballroom of the Venetian.

The Innovations entries are judged based on the following criteria:

·         Engineering qualities, based on technical specs and materials used

·         Aesthetic and design qualities

·         The product's intended use/function and user value

·         Unique/novel features that consumers would find attractive

·         How the design and innovation of the product compares to other products in the marketplace

Products chosen as Innovations honorees reflect innovative design and engineering. Examples may include the first time various technologies are combined in a single product or dramatic enhancements to previous product designs.

Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering honoree products are featured on www.CESweb.org/Innovations, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, designer, description, photo and URL.
