Independent Film Distribution Company, Team Cherokee Productions and Home Theater Films to Launch Movie Focused on American Values, Reviving the Soapbox Derby

(San Diego, CA) PB&K Media, an entertainment creation, film distribution and marketing company headquartered in San Diego, announces its partnership with actor, director and writer, Corbin Bernsen, Team Cherokee Production and Home Theater Films for U.S. theatrical distribution rights to the touching and involving film, 25 Hill. Starring Bernsen, this film also features Nathan Gamble, from the upcoming release of Dolphin Tale, and Bailee Madison from Wizards of Waverly Place and Just Go With It. This announcement comes after the film’s triumphant world premiere in Akron, Ohio, on July 9th.

Paul Broadhead, co-founder of PB&K Media, says, “25 Hill tells an original, moving story focused on perseverance and believing in yourself and others. We are pleased to announce our distribution partnership of this independent film that not only entertains but leaves viewers with a renewed sense of hope.”

The film, which culminates at the “All American Soap Box Derby” in Akron pays tribute to this long time competition tradition and promotes a revival of this pastime. “In today’s challenged economy and fast-paced digital world, families may have forgotten simple American values and the importance of ‘dreaming big’ and working on a project together,” says Bernsen. “This film speaks to all generations about not giving up on your dreams and remembering the greatest rewards are friendship and standing by your beliefs.”

Set in the small town of Taft, Calif., 12-year-old Trey Caldwell, played by Gamble, receives a Christmas gift from his father – a Soapbox Derby car kit. Before they can finish the car, Trey’s dad, an army reservist is called to duty in Afghanistan and killed. Trey is left with his mom, the unfinished car and a dream that is all but dead. His teacher introduces him to a friend, Roy Gibbs, a local fire chief, played by Bernsen, who himself has suffered a great tragedy after the loss of his son in the 9/11 attacks. Together, the two embark on a journey to build a soap box derby car while facing other challenges and differences. Along the way, they form a strong friendship and learn that as a team, they can mend old wounds and accomplish more than they ever imagined.

25 Hill was written and directed by Bernsen. The film was co-produced by Bernsen and Chris Aronoff with Mary Ethridge serving as executive producer. The film is expected to hit theaters later this fall.
