The Secret of Kells opened Friday, 4/30 exclusively at The Santikos Bijou Cinema Bistro. Nominated for Best Animated Film at the 2010 Academy Awards, the inspirational movie also took home top honors at the Dublin International Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

Based on The Book of Kells �a fantastically decorated edition of the Four Gospels, called by Christanity Today magazine as �both one of the finest works of medieval Irish illumination, and the best-known symbol of the Irish illuminated manuscript tradition�. This film was almost completely hand drawn with little help from computer animation and yet was nominated for Best Animated Feature going against Disney-Pixar�s UP and Fantastic Mr Fox by Wes Anderson. It is being prasied by many in the religious community, including the Vatican, for it�s message of hope and �gaining strength through suffering�.
