(Los Angeles, CA) - NewFilmmakers Los Angeles is a truly creative celebration of up and coming talent in the cinema community highlighting local to international content. The organizations eclectic take and strong variety of film programming provides a wide range of genres and subject matters sure to please audiences and critics alike.

The event will mix an evening red carpet gala with new auteur work from around the World, ensuring that an extraordinary array of both domestic and international filmmakers voices are heard during the exhibition of 11 different movies. In 2011, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles brought titles such as 'Framily' and 'Heaven Strewn' to audiences in Los Angeles and the city�s cinephiles praised the diverse season with sheer delight.

The Fir Tree (26 Min. Denmark) Directed by Lars Henrik Ostenfeld

As a cone the little fir tree is kidnapped by a mouse and it must take root and grow up far away from its family. The tree is hopeful and has big ambitions. It wants to grow so high that it reaches the sky and becomes a very successful tree. Through the tree we see the world passing by. It is impatient and only looks forward to growing up as fast as possible.

The tree tries to resist all troubles but one day in December everything changes when a little boy falls in love with the fir tree.

The Fir Tree offers stunning visuals of seasonal images that evoke the spirit of nature within us all, alongside a warm emotional story of life. A heartfelt and reworked tale based off of the Danish fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson.

Disavowed (9 Min. USA) Directed by Amanda Jaros

Seven years after the Act of Civil Rights of 1964, the wedding day of an interracial couple is interrupted when the African American groom is hijacked, leaving his Caucasian bride to think she is left at the altar. While the groom is taken to the middle of nowhere, the bride is left to find comfort from her friends, because her conservative family has decided not to attend the ceremony.

Lilly (5 Min. USA) Directed by David Wendelman

Meet George and Lilly. They've been married for 14 years. For better or for worse? This mockumentary short takes an intimate look into the private lives of two people whose devotion to each other puts a new spin on 'marriage'. Quirky and a little bizarre scenes are filled with bizarre but true oddities that leave you disturbed or heartfelt.

Lilly comes from a collection of offbeat comedic short films called, �Stories of Everyday Madness�. Lilly is the final installment and spin on a fun filled world full of the all the awkward poises that we hold so dear in comedy.

Starring Primetime Emmy Award Winner Paula Pell (NBC�s �Saturday Night Live� and �30 Rock�) and three time Emmy Award Winner John Riggi (NBC�s �Will & Grace and Foxs �The Bernie Mac Show�) with Cinematography by Matthew Clark (NBC�s �30 Rock� and �Up All Night�), Lilly provides an all-star cast and crew produced picture not to be missed.

Past Due (20 Min. USA) Directed by Denise Plumb

In this dark comedy, introvert Evelyn Lester's mundane life is turned upside down by the relentless pursuits of collection agent Scott Burgess. With nothing left to lose, Evelyn resorts to a payment plan she comfortably can afford.

The film was produced as part of the American Film Institutes (AFI) �8 Women Making Films� which spawned from the AFI Directing Workshop for Women and stars Screen Actors Guild Award Nominated actress Anne Ramsay (ABC Family�s �Secret Life of the American Teenager�, TNT�s �Hawthorne� and NBC�s �Mad About You�) with cinematography from Emmy Nominated, Sundance Film Festival Award Winner Nancy Schreiber and editing by Kindra Marra (Prometheus, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Twilight, New Moon and The Ring).

Angela Wright (13 Min. USA) Directed by Mu Sun

High school honor student and school presidential candidate Angela Wright (Genevieve Farrell) is always one to put her academics before her social life. On this particular day, Angela's dedication to excellence is challenged by a math exam that she is despairingly confused about. With pressure mounting, Angela cheats on the test, leading to a desperate altercation with her teacher, Mr. Taylor (Bodhi Elfman) Angela realizes that there is no right way to avoid punishment.

Chomp! (5 Min. United Kingdom) Directed by Adam and Joe Horton

In post apocalyptic Britain a pair of Zombie's get stuck into a corpse they find laying on the ground, with unexpected results. A tong and check Chomp Romp that will have you cringing, laughing and finding that soft place in your heart when you realize that love truly has no bounds.

The Apartment (10 Min. USA) Directed by Melanie Travis

The film begins as a woman gets a call, out of the blue, from a neighbor she's never met. The neighbor asks the woman to retrieve something from her apartment. Once she goes inside, the woman becomes absorbed in what she sees, and begins to imagine a different life for herself...

Drowned (6 Min. USA) Directed by Juan Marcio Migliorisi

On Santa Monica beach, lonely Sarah reads her book and tries to hide her age under some make up, in case a single man shows up. As soon as a man appears, she goes to unexpected lengths to call his attention and learns that hope is the last thing to go under.
