(GROVER BEACH, CA) Within the film making industry it is very difficult to simply graduate from film school and become a successful film director, producer, or editor without receiving the proper training. NFI knows the challenges that students face when getting ready to graduate and to get a job in the field they have studied. This is what sets NFI apart from many secondary learning institutions.

Knowing the school is only successful as it's graduates, Prema Thiagarajah CEO of NFI has made strides in getting the best instructors to lead not only classes but also leading film making workshops. One of these leading professionals is Matt Coale, a professional Director of Photography in Nashville, Tennessee.

Matt Coale is an Emmy Award winning Director of Photography working out of Nashville, Tennessee. Matt is a film school graduate of Southern Illinois University, studying under the guidance of documentary filmmaker Steven James (Hoop Dreams). Matt has photographed over 100 documentaries, 1500 commercials, 165 music videos and 750 television programs. His work has garnered well over 116 film/video awards.

Matt serves on the Advisory Board at NFI in which he uses his many years of experience to instruct, guide, and mentor students wanting to become professional film makers. Within a week of accepting the position, despite his heavy workload, Matt pulled his resources together to organize 3 workshops for the students that will benefit them in multiple ways as filmmakers.

Introducing the Sony F3 and its operations. Showing students the workings of 35mm film, a class that will be taught at Nashville local full service camera rental house A.C., Inc.

And yet another workshop on lighting, which is Matt's passionate and has an eye for at Citation Support Inc where students will be given the opportunity to set up and learn the different types of lighting equipment !!!

Nashville Film Institute is truly honored to have Matt Coale on as a board member and special instructor. NFI asked the following question and the answer we got back just goes to show how humble Matt really is QUESTION: We know you have a very busy schedule, why spend your valuable time organizing and coordinating hands on film classes at vendor locations, giving NFI students the opportunity to learn and network? ANSWER: That's simple.....because I didn't get that.
