MFI directors live at Terrace Cottage Colony in Southold, New York (Hour and a half from NYC) Fifteen cottages on a private wooded road. Each cottage has a kitchenette, a screened in porch and views of Hashamomuck Pond. All lodging will be age and gender appropriate with constant adult supervision and safety. (This schedule works for both sections, 14-17 and 18 & Up.) FILM CAMP FOR DIRECTORS AND ACTORS, July 1 – 15, 2012 WEEK ONE: Sunday 7/1: Arrive at Terrace Cottage Colony Campus; check into assigned cottages; meet faculty and counselors, review rules and safety regulations; orientation to overall schedule, goals, and outcomes; barbeque and camper introductions. M-F: 7/2 – 7/7 8:00–9:00am: Breakfast @ Cottages/Daily Announcements 9:00–9:15am: Van transport to Brecknock Hall (our stone mansion schoolhouse) on the grounds of Peconic Landing, in Greenport, NY. 9:30-12:30: MORNING SESSIONS @ Breaknock Hall – Actors workshop with Bob and Wendy; Directors workshop with Tony and Jeff. 12:30–1:30pm: LUNCH @ Peconic Landing 1:30–4:30pm: AFTERNOON SESSIONS @ Brecknock Hall – Actors and Directors work together through the week developing, casting, rehearsing 3-5 page scripts for their short films. 4:30-4:45pm: Van Transport back to Cottages. 4:45-6:30pm: FREE TIME 6:30–7:30pm: DINNER @ Cottages 8:00-10:30pm: EVENING SESSIONS @ Cottages – Directors and Actors discuss work from the day, review and rehearse scripts; Seminars and Screenings. 11:00pm: LIGHTS OUT Saturday 7/7: PERSONAL DAY– BEACH, LAUNDRY, SHOPPING (Van transport to our local town of Greenport provided by MFI Counselors) 8:00-10:30pm: SPECIAL SATURDAY EVENING SCREENING Emmy Winning Actor Joe Pantoliano screens his award winning film, CANVAS followed by a Q & A with MFI Actors and Directors at Peconic Landing. WEEK TWO: Sunday 7/8 8:00–9:00am: Breakfast; Schedule/Crew Lists/Order of Shooting Films Posted 9:30am-12:30pm: PRE-PRODUCTION BEGINS 12:30–1:30pm: LUNCH @ Cottages 1:30–6:30pm: FINAL LOCATION RUN-THROUGH 6:30 – 7:30pm: DINNER @ Cottages 7:30 – 10:30pm: PROPS, WARDROBE, MAKE-UP, AND FILM CHECK 10:30pm: EARLY LIGHTS OUT Mon-Tue-Wed 7/9 – 7/11 6:30am: EARLY BREAKFAST 7:30am: SHOOT FILMS OVER 3 DAYS Thu– Fri – Sat 7/12 – 7/14 Saturday 7/14 Screenwriter Ben York Jones screens his 2011 Sundance Film Festival winner, LIKE CRAZY followed by a Q&A for MFI Actors and Directors at Peconic Landing. Sunday 7/15 (FINAL DAY OF CAMP) Students will be constantly supervised with a ratio of 5 students per 1 adult. Counselors have studied with our faculty, none are younger than 21 years of age, all outstanding role models. Along with having a personal relationship to faculty prior to coming, counselors are chosen for their ability to help students and for their talent as editors and cinematographers. This way, they not only provide a safe environment but also support the ongoing quality of the work. Free time may include swimming in life-guard protected settings only.
