An experimental program to produce short and feature films.

(San Diego, CA) Malfunction Films has developed an experimental film program called Project Nine.

Project Nine aims to produce quality movies at or below specific budget limits - $9,999.99 for short films of up to nine minutes, and budgets up to $99,999.99 for feature films up to 99 minutes long.

Dave Barak, the founder of Malfunction Films, said, "We put this program together after seeing other independent studios being formed to produce films with budgets of $10 to $20 million. We figured that with digital technology and the growing film industry here in San Diego, we could craft some pretty decent films with much smaller budgets."

Financing of Project Nine films will be obtained through pre-sales of foreign territories, gap financing and private investors. Filmmakers with projects budgeted at or below these targets are invited to contact Malfunction Films.
