Actor Larry Laverty has joined the all-Irish cast of the film Green Star Liner, produced by Claddagh Films. Laverty will travel to Ireland later this year for the production, reuniting after 20 years with Irish film director Dermot Tynan.

(Los Angeles, California) -- Actor Larry Laverty will star as the villain in the Irish film "Green Star Liner," produced later this year by Irish film director Dermot Tynan and his company Claddagh Films. Laverty and Tynan worked together on two films early on in their careers but have not seen each other for twenty years. Laverty will be the only American in an all-Irish cast.

A native of Oakland, California, Laverty got his start on stage in the late 1980's. After appearing in over 15 stage productions, he was lured into cinema and immediately appeared in two action movies, one by acclaimed director John Frankenheimer. It was then that Tynan and Laverty first collaborated. "It seemed like we'd be making movies together for a long, long time, pairing up like De Niro and Scorcese did," Laverty recalls, "but Dermot had to move back to Ireland and our streak was over." But the two kept in touch, and now, twenty years later, they team up again.

This time will be different as both Laverty and Tynan are now veterans at what they do. Following Tynan's return to Ireland, Laverty complemented his acting work by studying at the prestigious American Conservatory Theater along with intense study of Improvisation with the renowned Improv groups Second City and The Groundlings.

Laverty then appeared on numerous television shows including guest spots on "Judging Amy," "The Practice," "Breaking Vegas," on numerous soap operas including "All My Children" and "Days of Our Lives," and a memorable appearance on "The Tonight Show." Laverty then left Hollywood to appear in dozens of independent films around the country including Cannes top film in 2003, Gus Van Sant's "Elephant." A master at disappearing into the characters he plays, American film director Jim Snapko put it best "Larry's done it all and he shares that insight with the people around him."

"Green Star Liner" will be a rare film, by nature of its fantastical story, and, by how it will bring together two friends, Laverty and Tynan, who have followed separate paths for the past twenty years, but team up again for this Claddagh Films production.
