KAYfilms Productions is proud to announce the First Annual KAYfilms Summer Screenplay Contest! We're looking for feature-length narrative screenplays, 80-120 pages in length, which entertain, inform, and inspire - all while being cost-effective. All genres will be considered! Entries will be judged on story, character, message, and budget (the lower the better).

Rules:

Entries must be narrative screenplays of 80-120 pages. Explicit language should be used only when necessary, and scenes should not require nudity. Scenes which call for complex special effects should also be avoided. No scene should require more than 100 extras.

Submitters must have full rights to their submissions, or have secured written permission to submit on behalf of the party which owns the rights. A photocopy of this statement of permission must be sent with the submission materials.

The ideal screenplay has a compelling story, strong characters, good dialogue, and can be produced for less than $500. We suggest using a minimal number of locations, and choosing very general locations that are easy to film in for little or no cost (public parks, for example). Also, while screenplays set in different time periods are allowed, keep in mind that period costumes and sets can be expensive and hard to find.
