A common complaint from professionals who use miniature HD cameras in high vibration situations such as vehicles is the 'jello' effect. This is caused by the rolling shutter, which scans the image from top to bottom and therefore distorts the image if it is moving fast.

Racelogic, based in the UK, produce video loggers for automotive applications where image accuracy is vital. Making its debut at NAB, their new VBOX HD uses a brand new 720p CMOS sensor with Global Shutter, which exposes each pixel simultaneously for the sharpest image. The tiny camera records in h.264 format to SD card in a GPS synchronised remote logger which can be mounted up to 5m away. This makes it ideal for capturing fast paced action at a more affordable price point than ever before.
