Grupo Salinas Is Committed to Supporting Mexican Youth.

(Mexico City) Grupo Salinas, a group of companies committed to the modernization of the countries in which they operate, created by Mexican entrepreneur Ricardo B. Salinas (www.ricardosalinas.com), is proud to celebrate through its non-profit arm Fundacion Azteca the inaugural concert of the Orquesta Sinfonica Esperanza Azteca youth orchestra, which performed yesterday in Mexico City.

Learn New Techniques and Best Practices in Motion Picture Production and Post Production

La Orquesta Sinfonica Esperanza Azteca is part of "Programa Musical Esperanza Azteca" (PROMESA), a project sponsored by Grupo Salinas and Fundacion Azteca to educate youth in excellence, teamwork and high self-esteem through classical music training and practice.

"Orquesta Sinfonica Esperanza Azteca is an example of what music can do to promote teamwork, a love of the arts, concentration, development. In short, the creation of values. It's much more than music. It's the formation of our youth," said Ricardo Salinas.

Mr. Salinas took advantage of the attendance of 25 governors from throughout Mexico, plus the mayor of Mexico City, to build the program into a national network. "We don't want this effort to be limited to a single orchestra. We want to create not one, but many orchestras and youth choirs throughout the country. We think that this way we can educate citizens who learn the value of discipline, know how to work in teams and can appreciate beauty."

The governors in attendance included: Gov. Luis Armando Reynoso Femat (Aguascalientes), Gov. Narciso Agundez Montano (Baja California Sur), Gov. Fernando Ortega Bernes (Campeche), Gov. Juan Sabines Guerrero (Chiapas), Gov. Jose Reyes Baeza Terrazas (Chihuahua), Gov. Humberto Moreira Valdes (Coahuila), Gov. Mario Anguiano Moreno (Colima), Gov. Ismael Alfredo Hernandez Deras (Durango), Gov. Enrique Pena Nieto (Mexico), Gov. Juan Manuel Oliva Ramirez (Guanajuato), Gov. Carlos Zeferino Torreblanca (Guerrero), Gov. Miguel Angel Osorio Chong (Hidalgo), Gov. Leonel Godoy Rangel (Michoacan), Gov. Marco Antonio Adame Castillo (Morelos), Gov. Ney Gonzalez Sanchez (Nayarit), Gov. Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz (Nuevo Leon), Gov. Ulises Ruiz Ortiz (Oaxaca), Gov. Mario Marin Torres (Puebla), Gov. Jose Calzada Rovirosa (Queretaro), Gov. Felix Arturo Gonzalez Canto (Quintana Roo), Gov. Jesus Alberto Aguilar Padilla (Sinaloa), Gov. Andres Rafael Granier Melo (Tabasco), Gov. Fidel Herrera Beltran (Veracruz), Gov. Ivonne Ortega Pacheco (Yucatan) and Gov. Amalia Garcia Medina (Zacatecas), as well as Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon.

The Orquesta Sinfonica Esperanza Azteca comprises 150 musicians and includes a choir of 125 members, ages six through 18.

Musical direction is led by Julio Saldana, with a team of 17 teachers and 15 assistants. The children underwent an intensive 120-day practice routine prior to the concert that included individual and group instrumental and voice sessions.

PROMESA is an example of the power of social change through programs that support human development and the formation of values in our youth.
