Gregory Graham and Luciana Lagana’s feature screenplay, ‘Old River Road,’ has received the Award of Excellence in Screenwriting at the 2013 Canada International Film Festival. The Festival took place on April 5th and 6th, 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

This screenplay is available on The Black List website. It is a moving story based on true events from Gregory’s life, from his childhood in rural Iowa to his adulthood in Los Angeles. The script offers an exciting combination of action, drama, crime, and thriller, touching upon topics including bullying and environmental issues; it also contains a delicate love story. A more detailed description of the screenplay was previously released and is available here.

This husband-and-wife team is excited to be garnering award nominations and wins for screenwriting. “Old River Road” was also nominated at the 2013 LA Screenplay Competition. Moreover, the writers’ TV script, ‘Soup Kitchen’ [a ‘Californication’ spec script] received nominations for best teleplay at the 2012 Los Angeles Screenplay Competition and the 2012 Hollywood Screenplay Contest.

“Writing is a great passion of mine. I engage in writing whenever I feel inspired, and am very happy to be acknowledged for my writing work with this award,” Gregory said. “It is fun to get to write with my husband. We have such opposite writing styles! It is very interesting to see how the story develops and ends up containing a combination of both of our visions,” concludes Luciana.
