Michael Cera mentioned as Gilligan, Seth Rogen as Skipper and Beyonce as Ginger in Warner Brothers remake; official casting not completed. Gilligans Island creator Sherwood Schwartz will be involved in big screen effort.

(Los Angeles, CA) The iconic television series Gilligans Island is finally getting the big screen treatment, and no one is more thrilled than Dreama Denver, wife of late Gilligans Island star Bob Denver, who passed away in 2005.

Im thrilled that a whole new generation will get to know the castaways, and that the original Gilligan fans will get to see the re-imagining of the show, says Mrs. Denver, who was a young actress when she met Bob as his co-star in a theatre production in the 1970s and who also appeared in the final Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligans Island TV movie in 1981.

Bob and Dreama Denver left the entertainment business except for a few guest appearances by the mid 1980s to raise their special needs son Colin in Ms. Denvers home state of West Virginia. She continues to be based in the Mountain State, where she oversees The Denver Foundation helping the families of other special needs children. Dawn Wells, the original Mary Ann from Gilligans Island, appeared at a November 2009 fundraiser for the charity.

Although in my heart no one can replace Bob as Gilligan, itll be interesting to see how the movie turns out. One thing is certain; whoever the new Gilligan is, hell make a whole lot more money for doing that one movie than Bob or the other castaways ever did in their lifetimes; Bob nor the rest of the cast ever received royalties for syndication, video or DVD sales, websites, video gamesnone of that was even imagined when they shot the TV show, said Ms. Denver, who also oversees website BobDenver.com, where she keeps in touch with Bobs loyal fans around the globe, and Little Buddy Radio, an FM and online non-profit radio station owned and operated by the Denver Foundation.

Ms. Denver is making a special offer to members of the new Gilligans Island cast: Bob wrote every word of his autobiography Gilligan, Maynard and Me (Denvers other starring role as Maynard Krebs in The Many Lives of Dobie Gillis:), and its packed with lots of great of behind the scenes info on the original Gilligans Island. Ill be happy to get a copy to them, so they can see how the original Gilligans Island team made the magic happenand find out whether Bob was more of a Ginger or Mary Ann guy. Gilligan, Maynard and Me is also available exclusively at www.bobdenver.com for a donation to the non-profit Denver Foundation.
