(Los Angeles, CA) -- On January 28, 2012, a screening of �Abby and the Lights in the Sky,� the latest film from the Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship� recipient director Xavier Vanegas, will be held at Akbar in Silver Lake. Supporters of the film will unite to celebrate the accomplishment and movie premiere of a first generation Nicaraguan-American film director.

Xavier graduated from Columbia University in 2007 and USC�s Peter Stark Program in 2010 and on January 28, 2012 he will debut the premiere of his film "Abby and the Lights in the Sky."

�Abby and the Lights in the Sky� is suburban science fiction as a vehicle for humanist drama. The film blends genres to investigate the mysteries of loss and the mystifying nature of hope.

After the loss of a pregnancy, a grief-stricken young woman begins to see lights outside her house. As questions of whether the lights are real or a symptom of her grief arise, she leads her own investigation into the phenomena. And what she finds may be exactly what she�s needed all along.

The independent short �Abby and the Lights in the Sky� chronicles the life of a woman after a tragic loss and her emotional recovery as she sees visions of lights in the sky. �Abby and the Lights in the Sky� already has audiences talking about the emotion of the film with psychological elements of wonder and suspense.

On January 28, 2012 Earthlings 21 and over are invited to attend the premiere with the cast and crew of �Abby and the Lights in the Sky� at Akbar: 4356 West Sunset Boulevard at Fountain Avenue in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California 90029.

The film stars Abigail Eiland and Alex Newell and is produced by Cody Alan Theilman & Xavier Raphael Vanegas and Executive Produced by Christopher Din. Directed by Xavier Raphael Vanegas.
