(Northridge, CA) GS Media Group and A Clockman Vision Productions is currently packaging O.G. Funk: Training Camp. Exec. Producer Kenny Ortega will be presenting the dance-oriented feature drama based on a story by Thomas Guzman Sanchez (urban street dancer/choreographer and film maker). An International search for actors, dancers and skateboarders is now being launched. Using computer technology, anyone can audition in the comfort of their own home for this worldwide search for cast members.

Robert Kubilos will handle directing duties on the screenplay scribed by Guzman Sanchez along with Kubilos. “Kenny is one of the few people in the world who genuinely understands this genre of dance,” reports Guzman-Sanchez on whose life, the story is based. Prominently known casting director Jaki Brown, will also be a producer on this project.

Based on a true story, the film chronicles the journey of two legends and pioneers in the worldwide Urban Street Dance movement phenomenon. The intense family drama set against the gritty backdrop of “Urban Street Dance” (also referred to as Hip-hop dance) will have broad appeal, but is aimed at the hip-hop dance genre’s hardcore base of practitioners. Kenny says, ”I am excited that Thomas and his brother Paul Guzman-Sanchez are playing themselves in this brave film because they are the absolute masters of Cross-over Locking, Funk Boogaloo and Open-hand Popping. It would be impossible to find dancers with their level of mastery.”

Director of Photography Igor Meglic (D.P. for Fast Five, Salt and Bourne Ultimatum) has also been tapped on what is intended to be the first in a new movie genre. Says Director Kubilos, “We are really looking forward to capturing this high intensity athletic dance style which has never been seen on film before.”

Filming is set for summer 2012. O.G. Funk completion is intended to correspond with the release of the book Underground Dance Masters (Houghton-Mifflin/ABC-Clio) and the award winning feature documentary of the same title, written and directed by Guzman-Sanchez, which also features Kenny Ortega.
