The Old San Juan Restaurant in Atwater Village, located at 2830 Fletcher Drive Los Angeles, CA 90039, will serve as a fundraising hub for the upcoming film “Playground Politix”. In efforts to fund a musically driven short film about all-American girls and boys battling through dance for space at the playground, “Playground Politix” goal is to promote a peaceful and productive movement for kids to combat gender bullying through self-confidence and fearlessness.

Spicerack Productions Inc. and Power to the Playground Productions LLC. are set to produce “Playground Politix”, while this will be Doreen Spicer-Dannelly’s directorial debut. Writer and producer of “The Proud Family”, “Jump In!” (Disney Channel) and creator of “The Wannabes Starring Savvy” (Starz Kids & Family), Doreen is a staple in the entertainment industry and known to add flavor to teen and family entertainment. Jamal Sims of “Step Up Revolution”, “Hairspray”, and Footloose” will be the choreographer and art director on the film.

From 5:30-8:30 pm, “Playground Politix” guests will enjoy live musical performances, a salsa band, presentation to support monetary backing for the film and promote awareness, red carpet, and silent auction items courtesy of I.C.O.N. Hair Products, Kim Holt children’s art, YAS Yoga and Spinning center, Robin Russell design, Spadaro fine fragrances, Olive Percival clothing, Gypsy Zen candles, and Blue Medi Spa.

With much passion for the project Spicer-Dannelly recently stated, “I believe the current perspective of ‘anti-bullying’ inadvertently creates an atmosphere for bullies to feel powerful. Instead, we should empower our kids with self-reliance and strong sense of self, warding off bullies to begin with.” Promoting confidence, physical fitness, and positive self-esteem for youth, guests will walk away from the evening reinforcing “Playground Politix” mission and movement.

Confirmed celebrity guests include Sophia Lucia (Dance Moms), Mariah Parks (The Wannabes starring Savvy), Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly), Edward James Olmos, Esai Morales, Bill Duke, and many others.
