(Harrisburg, PA) To
coincide with the 23rd anniversary of the public suicide of Pennsylvania politician
R. Budd Dwyer, Eighty Four Films is proud to announce the completion of Honest
Man: The Life of R. Budd Dwyer.
Honest Man, an independently produced feature-length documentary four
years in the making, explores the bribery scandal which led an honest, hard-working
man to take his own life. The film features exclusive new interviews with Dwyer's
family, friends, and colleagues, including a candid, heartfelt interview with
Dwyer's widow - her last before her death in 2009 - and a rare, revealing interview
with William Smith, the man whose testimony convicted Dwyer. This portrait of
a man swept up in the turbulent and cutthroat political world of the 1980s will
undoubtedly raise important questions about Dwyer's presumed guilt.
Eighty Four Films is an independent production company operating out of San
Francisco, CA and Buffalo, NY. Focusing on producing animations, commercials
and feature films, Honest Man is its first feature film.
The director, James Dirschberger, is originally from Buffalo, NY, an hour from
Budd Dwyer's hometown of Meadville, PA. He moved to San Francisco in 2002 to
pursue filmmaking. Since then he has teamed up with numerous Bay Area artists
to create successful collaborative animations, music videos and short films.
These projects have screened around the world and have accumulated over 250,000
views online.
Honest Man: The Life of R. Budd Dwyer will be screened at film festivals
around the country this fall.
