Released on October 28, "Puss in Boots" is the latest installment in the "Shrek" franchise whose story centers on the adventures of the sword-wielding Spanish tabby seen in the second film. A relative newcomer to the arena of film composing, Mr. Jackman began his transition to film work in 2006 working with established composer Hans Zimmer on a range of projects including "The Da Vinci Code", "Pirates of the Caribbean 2", "The Holiday", "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" and "The Simpsons Movie" In this film Mr. Jackman deftly employs his compositional skills in constructing a sound-world that aptly complements the visual narrative.

To construct this sonic environment, Mr. Jackman incorporates traditional Latin instruments in the score, featuring musicians like guitar virtuosi Rodrigo y Gabriela to lay down blistering licks that almost pulls the viewer into the film's numerous dance sequences. In addition to these compositional gambits, Jackman employs fuller orchestrations to achieve a more symphonic sensibility while still striving toward a Spanish-inflected musical language, an aesthetic reminiscent of composers like Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy.
