Bluefin Media (http://www.bluefinmedia.com) interacts with Academy Award nominee Alex Buono in an advanced cinematography workshop. The seminar entitled “The Art of Visual Storytelling” was held in Detroit, Michigan and is part of a summer-long nationwide tour by Buono. Topics included lighting set-ups, recent advances in filmmaking technology as well as the principles of visual storytelling. The opportunity to hone their production skills and learn how the SNL Film Unit creates videos with high production value in a very fast-paced deadline driven environment is what drew Bluefin Media’s production team to attend the seminar.

Alex Buono is an award winning writer, producer and cinematographer whose work includes films, commercials and music videos. He is best known for his work as the Director of Photography for the Saturday Night Live Film Unit.

The workshop began with a step-by-step examination of Buono’s filmmaking process and an overview of tools and techniques that he uses when shooting for SNL. During the hands-on hour, the Bluefin Media team had the chance to work with the latest video production gear. A highlight was trying out the brand new MŌVI camera stabilizer. The event wrapped up with a visual structure seminar inspired by one of Buono’s former film professors at USC, Bruce Block.

The Bluefin Media video production team creates a wide variety of original content, utilizing state-of-the-art video equipment to deliver exceptional quality. From ideation to the post-production phase of a project, the Bluefin Video team focuses on delivering top-notch content through savvy experience inspired by newsworthy information. “The Visual Storytelling workshop was a fantastic learning experience for our video team and we're excited to incorporate the techniques we learned at the workshop into our videos in our continuing efforts to make our video content the best it can be. It was an incredible opportunity to have a hands-on, interactive educational seminar with industry great, Alex Buono,” states Jo-Anne Gembolis, Managing Producer of Video Production at Bluefin Media.
