The UFVA officers and board are pleased to announce a new initiative—the Graduate Student Conference Fellowship.

This fellowship will allow six graduate student members to have expenses for the 2012 UFVA conference at Columbia College Chicago paid by the association. The fellowship will pay for conference registration, housing, the picnic, and meals, but will not cover the cost of travel to the conference. In addition, there will be a number of fellowship programs designed to introduce fellows to the association. These include:

• A "Meet and Greet" session followed by a "How to Conference" session with other interested grad student attendees.
• A student fellows / grad student "mixer".
• A lunch session and informal "lecture" on the history of the UFVA as presented by one or more UFVA "veterans."
• A "Fellows’ Presentation Panel" during which fellows share their work (open to all UFVA conference attendees).
• A "fellows only" lunch session with the UFVA Board.
• A panel on "Positioning Yourself for the Academic Job Market" for fellows and other grad students.
• A "Goodbye Event" (a.k.a. "after party" out on the town).

Graduate student members are encouraged to attend the conference, submit their work, and to apply for the fellowship.
