Looking for more inspiration?

Here are even quick tips on how to add depth to your photos.

Tip #1: Change Your Perspective

Get down low, get up high, and experiment with different angles to add depth to your photos.

Tip #2: Choose a Focal Point

Choose something in the foreground that will draw viewers’ eyes into the photo and add depth.

Tip #3: Use a Wide Angle Lens

Wide angle lenses can capture more of a scene and create the illusion of depth.

Tip #4: Blur the Background

Blurring the background with a shallow depth of field will draw attention to the foreground and create a sense of distance.

Tip #5: Use Leading Lines

Look for lines in the scene that draw the eye in and lead the viewer through the photo.

Tip #6: Use Natural Framing

Look for elements in the scene that can frame the subject and create depth.

Tip #7: Add a Human Element

A person in the scene will draw attention and give viewers a sense of scale.

Submit your winter photos FREE for a chance to win. FREE entry through extended deadline, January 25th!
