Editing is an essential part of the filmmaking process, and it’s a task that can be done alone or with a team. Some filmmakers prefer to work alone, while others prefer to collaborate with others during the editing process.

That’s why I wanted to start a discussion about editing preferences. Do you prefer to edit alone, or do you enjoy working with a team during the editing process? What are the benefits and drawbacks of working alone or with a team during the editing process?

Personally, I enjoy working with a team during the editing process. I find that collaboration can bring a fresh perspective to the project and help me see things in a new light. Plus, working with others can help me stay motivated and focused during long editing sessions.

However, I know that some filmmakers prefer to work alone during the editing process. They may find that working alone allows them to focus better and create a more consistent vision for the project.

So, what about you? Do you prefer to edit alone or with a team, and why? Let us know in the comments below. I’m interested in hearing about your experiences with editing preferences!

Not so much a preference as just how it always is for me, is to work alone, but with regular reviews with others, primarily the director and producer(s). The reviews are usually done via frame.io but of late I’ve been trying out the new Dropbox app; Replay.
