We live in modern days, where Artificial Intelligence evolves as we speak. At first, AI was used mostly for simple tasks, such as language translation or to send automated messages. Today, AI can be used for filmmaking. In the future, it could even change the way we edit movies.
An AI program, currently in “Early Access” phase, allows filmmakers to edit videos simply by typing text. A simple line of text can instantly change the color grading of a video, remove an object or even generate background. By doing this, AI aims to simplify the technical aspects of filmmaking. The magical tool that allows you to edit videos by typing text is called “Runway” and it is considered to be the “next-generation video creation suite”.
You do not need complex system requirements to use Runway, because this AI driven software runs in your browser, without having to download anything to your computer. There is a free version that allows you to experience its AI tools, but you can only export your videos at 720p. The paid version applies for 1080p HD and 4k exports.
It takes you so long to manually edit videos and make VFX and now AI can make it with literally one word. I guess literally anyone will soon be able to make VFX and cool movies. I think the difference will be made by creativity and originality rather than the skills of using tools.
I saw many people use AI text to speech but AI text to video? Now this is something new that I am very excited to try. It’s good that it’s free to try, even if you can only export a lower quality. At least you can learn and for us students, it can be a great opportunity to create something new.
