KimKeymasterI was watching videos today that Hossein posted a while back. You can go to his profile and the video tab to watch his videos here: https://www.www.studentfilmmakers.com/members/hoss/ posted in the video section talking about some of the things actors have said about other actors and how to get recognized by writing your screenplay and playing the role. It’s very touching stuff. This is what Sylvester Stallone did with the movie Rocky. He wrote it and insisted that he played Rocky, and I believe he also directed it. He was so broke when he sold the script that the electric company was sometimes turning his electricity off.

MauraParticipantSadly, we live in a world where you need more than just talent to get recognized. Most actors don’t get the exposure they deserve. On the original forums, we have Capricious, he posts a video every week. He is also an actor and he is very talented. He played in a few movies that he posted and in my opinion, he did a great job playing in them. He is not famous yet because it is very difficult to get exposure 🙂

AlexParticipantThe story of Sylvester Stallone inspired me to create my first short film. I am not an actor, but I want to create a short film and provide exposure to a few really good actors from my hometown. Maybe, if I do a great job, they will get the exposure they need 😀

AmyParticipantThis is one of my biggest fear. That I will graduate from Uni and all my work will go unnoticed. I am not an actor but the same fear is valid for everyone I guess

JayParticipantHey Kim, great question. So many beautiful films are never seen; so many actors never become recognised. Remember what Constantin Stanislavski wrote: ‘Love Art in Yourself, Not Yourself in Art.’ Love your craft, even if you’re performing in a cold theatre with ten people watching or if you’ve put your film on YouTube with five likes or ten views – keep creating, keep believing and one day, it will happen. People are all about numbers these days. The first thing someone asks is how much you get paid, how many likes you have, how many followers you have, also how many views you have? Does it really matter? Shouldn’t people ask you how good it was for you being in the film, what’s your next gig, etc. why is it always about the dollar or the popularity?🤩 I love the fact that Sylvester stuck to his guns, I heard he even sold his beloved dog, but bought it back.
