If you really want to learn this, it will take a while. As Maura suggested, FL Studio could be a good start.
If you only struggle with the Copyright problem, there are many libraries online, with no copyright. You can just choose a song that is fit for your assignment. One of the most popular libraries (but limited in options) is Bensound
