I think it’s sort of a common sense thing that people overlook between two actors performing in front of a camera, it’s part of the job to bring a scene to life, maybe that’s why a lot films today have lost the essence and authenticity they used to have, an intimacy coordinator is used for any kind of touching on sets now, unlike a stunt coordinator the intimacy coordinator asks what people are comfortable with and doesn’t really coordinate the scene. I think it’s like many things there is always a way to make money off something so it becomes another expense that is required.
